The Best Newborn Photographer in the World

Who Really Is “The Best Newborn Photographer in the World?”

And why the answer is more personal than any list.

    You’ve probably seen the lists:

    Best newborn photographer in London.

Top newborn photographers in the world.

Who to hire for your baby’s first photos.

We’re all guilty of searching for “the best.”

The best restaurant. The best buggy. The best everything.

So it makes sense that parents search for the best newborn photographer too — because this moment matters. It’s emotional, fleeting, once-in-a-lifetime.

But here’s the truth no one says out loud:

There is no single “best” newborn photographer in the world.

There is only the best photographer for you.

The photographers who shaped the industry

Before anything else, credit where it’s due.

Photographers like Anne Geddes and Ana Brandt transformed newborn photography. They built the foundation many of us grew from — myself included — even though my work looks very different today.

For eight years, I photographed newborns in the classic posed style: curled, wrapped, perfectly still.

Over time, my work shifted into something more natural, more intuitive, more emotionally-led. But the discipline of those early years still shapes everything I do.

So… who is the best newborn photographer?

People ask this more than you’d expect.

And I get why — when something matters deeply, we want to choose well.

But the answer depends entirely on what you value:

    • Do you want soft, cinematic, story-driven images?

    • Or simple, timeless, minimal?

    • Do you prefer styled or completely natural?

    • Do you want someone hands-on and gently guiding, or someone who mostly lets things unfold?

    None of these are wrong.

    They’re just different.

The best photographer for you is the one who helps you feel something — not the one who tops a Google list.

The real question: who sees you?

As a London newborn photographer, I’ve learned that the families who choose me aren’t looking for “the best.” They’re looking for someone who notices the small, human things — the quietness, the honesty, the cinematic softness that feels like home, the sense of being held.

    Not because I’m “the best.”

Because something in the images feels familiar. Safe. True.

The right photographer is the one who:

    • notices the way you breathe when your baby settles

    • understands cultural nuance, emotional nuance, human nuance

    • works in a way that feels calm, grounded and unforced

    • makes space for your real life — not a version you think you should present

    No ranking can measure that.

    The myth of “best”

    We’ve all been there:

The “best” restaurant that didn’t live up to the hype.

The “best” professional who wasn’t the right fit.

The “best” product that didn’t actually meet your needs.

    “Best” is rarely universal.

It’s personal — shaped by your taste, your values, your stage of life, and your expectations.

    Photography is exactly the same.

How I create my best work

My best work happens when there’s a connection.

When a family feels at ease.

When there’s trust in the room.

I guide gently, notice deeply, and stay attuned to the small things — the tiny movements, the quiet emotion, the honest in-between moments that you’ll want to remember.

Some families will resonate with that immediately.

    Others won’t — and that’s perfect.

Because when a family finds the photographer who truly fits them, the images reflect that connection.

So… am I the best newborn photographer for you?

    Maybe.

    Maybe not.

If something in my work feels like home — if you feel seen, understood, or gently drawn in — then it might be worth exploring.

And if not, that’s completely okay.

Newborn photography is emotional work, and you deserve someone who feels like the right fit for your family.

Either way, I hope you find someone whose work holds your story well.

If you’re curious, you’re always welcome to get in touch — even just for a conversation.
