Soulful London Family Photographer

This style of photographing people is my favourite and most creative way to capture my son. Usually, I'll sit and watch him play; often, we talk as he plays or both of us play. The photos happen in the in-between moments.

My sidekick

This little guy has been my sidekick for the best part of 6 months; today, he's returned to school. There came the point where we just lost count of the weeks- a bit of a shock to the system for both of us. I know he's feeling apprehensive about going back, but I also know that will ease for him.

He told me he'd prefer to be homeschooled but would miss his friends. If he could have it his way, he'd have both. I'm not so sure about homeschooling full-time, though. It can be challenging at times, but it's nice to watch him learn and to be the one to teach him, too.

Creativity

I especially love it when he gets a moment to be creative, both in his thoughts and on paper. He loves art, so that's always easy for him, but there are other aspects of creativity, too, and I'm enjoying helping him see that in himself. Being creative isn't just about drawing, painting, photography, design. It's simply about ideas, solutions and how we use our brains to find them. For me, that's creativity too. And I see an imagination that goes across the genres, which I want to nurture in him. Homeschooling allows me to do that when, otherwise, I couldn't do as much.

Grateful for moments like these. I'll miss having him around.
