5 reasons Why Maternity Photos Are Important
Table of Contents
As a seasoned London Maternity Photographer with over 12 years of experience capturing the essence of families and Newborns, I often find myself contemplating questions from clients like, "What is Maternity Photography?" or "Why is Maternity Photography Important?" And, of course, the ever-important query: "Is a Maternity Photoshoot worth it?"
In my world, the answer circles back to a simple yet profound word β value.
For me, value is the compass that directs the significance of anything in life. It's about deriving meaning, joy, or a tangible difference. When something holds value, its importance transcends monetary considerations. That, my dear readers, is why maternity photography is indispensable to my work as a London maternity photographer.
Allow me to share with you five compelling reasons that underline the importance of maternity photos:
1. You will never have this exact moment again
I generally don't mince my words. So, let me repeat this for the people at the back: you will never have this moment again.
This point is obvious, I know.
If you're unsure whether to do it, I would say don't if your heart isn't in it. But if a part of you wants it, know that if you go to the effort of having a session like this, you will have this moment captured forever. And you will love them forever; your children will also see and hopefully love them when they are older.
If your heart yearns for it, seize the opportunity to have a session. Once captured, these moments become timeless treasures cherished by you and generations to come.
2. Take a minute to celebrate your body and the life growing inside you
Yes, this reminds you of your beauty and the little life inside you. These images represent all you have gone through and will go through, and you can feel good knowing that you are celebrating every inch of your body, no matter how you feel, how you look or how you think about how you look. Maternity photos are a celebration of the journey your body is undertaking.
I don't wish to sound corny, but it's a special time, and pregnancy is beautiful. I guess everyone sometimes feels that way, and I get that after having two kids myself. But looking back at pregnant me, I see the beauty now more than ever. You appreciate it more with time.
3. Bond a little more with your partner or embrace self-connection
Whatever the vibe, I will always work with it and bring more of the same.
Whether you're sharing the experience with your partner or embracing the journey solo, a maternity session is an opportunity for bonding.
In my sessions, I'll encourage Mum to connect with herself or couples to connect. I will allow moments to get a feel for the vibe, and then we go from there.
4. Self-expression
This one's my personal favourite.
Your maternity photography session can be a canvas for creativity or a space for intimate and soulful moments. We create art through emotion.
I work closely with mums to ensure the session fits our vision and feels good.
5. You won't regret it - itβs a timeless investment
It's a bold statement, but with all of the motherhood and maternity sessions I've done, I can safely say it's something Mums appreciate having, especially as time passes.
So, to all those contemplating a maternity photoshoot, having a maternity session in your style and vibe is more than capturing that moment; itβs shaping a legacy that stands the test of time.
I invite you to connect with me if you resonate with these reasons. Together, let's craft a session that mirrors your journey into parenthood.
