4 reasons why I love being a London Maternity Photographer
As a London Maternity Photographer and London Newborn Photographer, sometimes, I get asked questions like, What is Maternity Photography? Why is Maternity Photography Important? Is a Maternity Photoshoot worth it, or Why do you like Maternity Photography?!
Ok, ok, let's do this….
Four reasons why I love being a London Maternity Photographer
1. Embracing the Unique Energy of Expecting Mums
When it comes to an expecting mum, there is a particular type of energy they have. Their quiet yet powerful aura is endearing, beautiful, humbling, warming and cute, to be honest, I love that!
2. Celebrating the Beauty of Pregnancy
It's super cheesy, but I love how beautiful mums look
They don't always feel it (some do). I didn't feel too attractive in the late stages of my pregnancy!
Honestly, though, from the outside looking in, the beauty is something else. Because of this, I tend to make them feel more at ease because I want them to enjoy the session and connect with their inner spirit to give the vibes we need for the session. When I get that energy, I can sometimes see them come alive. Honestly, it's a beautiful thing.
Basically, the way I see it, these images represent all you have gone through and will go through, and you can feel good knowing that you are celebrating every inch of your body, no matter how you feel, how you look or how you think about how you look.
I never wish to sound corny, but it's a special time, and pregnancy is beautiful. I guess everyone sometimes feels that way, and I get that after having two kids myself. But looking back at pregnant me, I see the beauty now more than ever.
3. Partners can bring a whole other vibe.
Let me be clear: Sometimes, it'll be just Mum, and sometimes, it'll be with a partner. It doesn't matter to me. I honestly LOVE just shooting Mum because it's such boundless female mum energy connecting. But when there is a partner, there is also this other loving energy, this essence - a partnership. I sometimes see admiration, respect and sheer grace as a whole vibe.
I mean, this is what I mean. A whole vibe and then some:
4. Self-expression and Creativity
This one's my favourite. These sessions can be really simple or verging on a fashion shoot. You can use the session to get creative or intimate and soulful. We can talk about aesthetics to create the look(s). Then, we create art through emotion. I encourage all mums to "bring it," so I work closely with them to ensure the session fits our vision and feels good.
