Urban Style: Capturing Modern Family Life in Islington

Islington Family Photographer Samantha Black loves combining Style and Emotion

“'I’m driven by a deep desire to create photographs that capture not just moments, but the emotions and stories behind them. I want your family to have a legacy of beautiful images that bring peace, joy, and comfort for generations, offering a tangible connection to the past”.

I’ve captured many families in Islington, Canonbury and Barnsbury during my 12 years as a photographer.

Many of these families wanted meaningful, beautifully crafted images that truly resonate.

I guess it comes from living in a Modern age where we have countless digital photos that don’t capture the depth and emotion of your family's story. I think even more than ever because of this ease of access to capturing digital moments of our kids we end up with images that maybe we like or love but they live on our phones. Our kids don’t see them, yes we occasionally revisit them but they just are tangible.

The goal

My goal is to bring you peace by guiding you through a personalized, simple, and enjoyable process focused on creating timeless, heartwarming photographs that your family will treasure. Together, we’ll craft a visual story that brings peace of mind and ensures your memories are preserved for generations. These are not just photographs; they are heirlooms for your family with tons of emotional significance.

It’s not until we see them in print do they come alive, they spark a feeling, connection or emotion. They are real. Our kids can access them, they have something tangible. This is where the magic happens and that’s the very thing I’m trying to achieve with very single family I work with.

Why Islington works well for me and for the families I work with

I’ve found that many families in Islington that want family photography have an urban yet trendy vibe. Some are more on the creative side, some less so but there is always a real appreciation for style and substance. That’s why I tend to find I’m a good fit for these families.

Choosing your Photographer

You have to ask yourself - Does the photographer’s work give you a warm feeling? Is that something you'd like to have when looking at your own.? Then maybe it's a match. If however, that’s not the feeling you’re after, then figure out what that is, and use that to find your match.

Take some time to think this through. If the session type and feel suits you and the children, you’ll probably get better results. Speak to the photographer if you’re unsure.

Your children - how will they relate?

What are their personalities like, and how will they relate to the photographer you’ve selected? This is a big deal because you want to get the best out of your kids, no doubt, but you also want them to have fun.

Truth be told, do you think they will warm to the photographer? Do they (and you maybe) have a little wild and free in them, and if so, would you like to embrace that, and will the photographer be able to capture and handle that free-spirited nature or even their quiet side?
