Family Photography sessions with Samantha Black

Family sessions are sessions where I really concentrate on capturing the real essence of your family.  It will be images that come out of a session like this that your children will look back at and remember. They will remember you, their family, and that time, so it's really important to get them right, for all of you.

I am here to make sure that I capture your beautiful family the best way that I know, so that you have something to love and cherish, forever. I can honestly say that although I want to create images that you will love for years, I wish so much more to create portraits for you that last for generations and finished products that will be cherished by your children, and their children. I sincerely believe that you deserve to have a professional product when you have a session with me, which is why I am in love with creating beautiful portraits that will hang on my clients’ walls for a lifetime.

 Location

For family sessions I like to keep them really relaxed and personal to you so I can come to your home or meet you at a location of your choice. If you have garden space we could also incorporate that too.

Although I can work both in or outdoors for family sessions, I do not specialise in posed studio background type shots, so if this is something you think you might like, let me know and I'll see if I can help recommend someone to you.

I always think that you, the parents are the best ones to decide whether its best to have your photos at home, or outside, since you know your children best. Plus it also depends on whether you would like a plain background and more posed studio type shoot, or whether you would like a more natural looking shoot.  I recommend we choose what works most for your children, so that we have the best chance we can of getting good shots

Groups

In terms of getting individual shots and group, I will aim to get as many 'combinations' as I can, and I will ask you to tell me what it is you really want, this will help me get what you want out of the session

What to wear

In a nutshell, keep it  fairly timeless but choose clothing that you like on you and your children. If you like bold colour, please keep colours complimentary, avoid obvious logos, think about how you would like to look as a family and also, when choosing clothing try to avoid items that may look too dated in many years to come. If you prefer naturals, great, just keep the tones fairly complimentary throughout.

Feel free to have 2 or 3 outfits ready to choose from, I am happy to have a look over these when I arrive and discuss options and combinations with you.

When, where and how long?

Sessions always take place in the comfort of your own home and/or at a location of your choice. Family sessions usually take between 2-3 hours.

How to best represent your session

Albums are popular for family sessions are are fine art prints and wall art.  You have to ask yourself what is the way that we see ourselves enjoying these images best? Once you know this, I can help you achieve your goals.
