3 steps to choosing the right Wall Art for your home
TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS
Like choosing artwork for your home, choosing portraits or wall art pieces can feel bewildering. It needn't be. I recommend a straightforward 3 step approach when it comes to selecting photographs for your walls (you can use this for buying original art too):
Trust your instincts. Your choice of portrait will help to define the personality of your space.
At the risk of sounding cheesy, you have to choose what you love. If it's beautiful to you or makes your heart move, listen to it. Ask yourself - what about portraits and the artwork you love most?
For me, I am drawn to emotion, shadow and light. Others like energy, movement and joy. When I look at a piece of art or a print, I want to feel a connection and a particular emotion jumping out at me; others want to feel energised, fun and joyful. When you choose an image with soul, good energy or whatever interests you, you'll always appreciate what it gives you. Trust your instincts. You can do this!
Ask me if you need help choosing the final image; I'm pretty intuitive and can probably help you choose one you love.

2. Which walls do you have available?
Take a walk around your home with your phone and take a few well-lit photos of the spaces you'd like to place something. If you'd like to move something existing, take a picture of that wall too. Hold the phone steady and at the right angle when you take the pics (not too low or too high).
Ask yourself:
How does the light fall on these walls at different times of the day?
Are the images/the image suited to the area?
Would one large print, one small print or a gallery be better there? Food for thought here.
Feel free to send me the pics; I can use your pictures to help you decide and plan a layout if you like.

3. Size and scale
There is no right or wrong answer here. Many say it should fill 60-70% of your wall, and yes, going big can work exceptionally well; a deliberately placed smaller piece of art with substantial negative space can work well too.
Sometimes a well-placed combination of prints, a gallery wall, works better than one large print. They can be of varying sizes or all the same size.
Again, ask, and I'll help plan a layout for you.
That's it, remember, whatever you choose will grow in meaning and value with you and your family.
You can relocate and swap things around with time and changes in decor. Don't ever feel like you have to colour-match everything, either. You can be bold or tonal, have a variety of sizes and frames or keep things uniform. There is no exact science, so don't overthink this aspect too much.
