Is it possible to find the best family photographer in London?

To be honest, when you type in family photographer London, one of the suggestions Google will give you as an alternative is "best family photographer London."

Then you find yourself going through websites, blogs, IG, comparing, etc.

I'm a photographer, and, I’ll be honest, what and who is 'best' is always subjective.

Perhaps the real question you need to ask is:

Which photographers suit your style, and how does their work make you feel?

Yes, how does it feel?

It's a real thing.

Like when I decided to renovate my kitchen diner, I had to think about how I wanted the space to feel first and foremost (calming, warm, earthy), which then fed into aesthetics and functionality.

Does the photographer’s work give you a warm feeling? Is that something you'd like to have when looking at your own.? Then maybe it's a match. If however, that’s not the feeling you’re after, then figure out what that is, and use that to find your match.

Maybe you’d like your images to feel airy, clean and polished. Then the shiny studio look, does the photographer's work represent that for you? Then perhaps that's worth looking into.

Another biggie is…

How will your children relate to the photographer?

What are their personalities like, and how will they relate to the photographer you’ve selected? This is a big deal because you want to get the best out of your kids, no doubt, but you also want them to have fun.

Truth be told, do you think they will warm to the photographer? Do they (and you maybe) have a little wild and free in them, and if so, would you like to embrace that, and will the photographer be able to capture and handle that free-spirited nature or even their quiet side?

The last point I can think of is (this list is not by any means the only things to take in account but just some of my personal observations):

What are your expectations?

Are you hoping for a quick and easy session, or do you want to be pushed to your and your children's limits?

It’s a valid point.

Quick and easy can sometimes be achieved in a studio setting. I suggest you have a chat with the photographer.

My sessions can take 2-4 hours, depending on the type. But, they work well with the families I work with.

Take some time to think this through. If the session suits you and the children, you’ll probably get better results. Speak to the photographer if you’re unsure.
